The Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar it contains 12 months in a year of 354 or 355 days that is based on the motion of the moon also call Hijri calendar. It is used by Muslims to determine the dates of religious events and observances.

In some countries, the Hijri calendar is used in the official calendar like Saudi Arabia. But some countries use different calendars for a different purpose. The Gregorian calendar for civil purposes and the Islamic calendar for religious purposes
